Enrolling in Benefits
When you elect or change your benefits during annual enrollment, your elections take effect the first day of the next plan year, which is January 1.
You are eligible for benefits if you are regularly scheduled to work at least 30 hours per week. Part-time employees who regularly work less than 30 hours per week are eligible to participate in the 403(b) Retirement Income Plan and Employee Assistance Program.
If you’re electing benefits for the first time as a new hire, most benefits become effective the first of the month following 30 days of continuous employment. You have 31 days from your date of hire to complete and submit your elections.
Eligible Dependents
When you enroll yourself in medical, dental, and/or vision coverage, you may also cover your eligible dependents, including:
- Your legal spouse or qualified domestic partner
- Children under the age of 26, regardless of student, dependency or marital status (includes your biological child, adopted child, stepchild, a child of your child who is your dependent for federal income tax purposes at the time application for coverage is made, a child to whom you are a legal guardian)
- Children who are past the age of 26 and are fully dependent on you for support due to a mental or physical disability and who are indicated as such on your federal tax return.
How to Enroll
First, read through this website or your benefits guide to learn about your options. When you’re ready to make your elections, log in to Employee Self-Service (ESS) to submit your enrollment by the deadline. You can log in to ESS in ADP by clicking the button below.
Making Changes After Open Enrollment
After Open Enrollment ends, you cannot change your benefits and will have to wait until the next Open Enrollment—unless you experience a Qualified Life Event (such as marriage, birth, or loss of coverage).
Common Qualified Life Events Include
- Marriage
- Welcoming a new child
- Loss of coverage
- Leave of absence
- Loss or change in employment
